How we help

Horus strongly believes in supporting and giving back to the local communities in which we operate. The organisations, projects, and teams we support have been nominated by members of the Horus team.

INTELLIGENCE CORPS RUGBY TEAM

The British Army’s Intelligence Corps established a Corps Rugby Union Football Club (ICRFU) in 2004 which competes in the Army Corps’ League, one of the smallest Corps to do so. Rugby core values and physical prowess mirror the values and requirements of soldiering, particularly the need for both individual and collective endeavour, strategy, and fitness.

ICRFU seeks to encourage sporting success in the field of rugby at individual, unit and representative levels with club players having been selected to represent the Army and Combined Services in a variety of competitions including the inter-Services World Cup in Japan in 2019. The club continues to build its player base of 60 registered players serving in the UK or deployed on operations across the World. ICRFU aspire to improve on its second placing in the 15s League and regain the recently lost Corps Rugby 7s title after emphatic victory’s 3 times in the last decade. Due to the small size of the Intelligence Corps ICRFU cannot raise a women’s rugby side, however, four Corps ladies play in other combined teams and have reached the level of Army and Combined Service representation.

Financial support for the club to develop these young men and women is vital, sporting prowess is closely synchronised to military service but competing at a high level whilst participating in delivery of Intelligence to Special Forces and Conventional Forces engaged in high tempo military operations is a fine balance to manage. The sponsorship of Horus Security Consultancy Ltd assists in the purchase of equipment and supporting players on overseas rugby tours to develop them in the best way possible as soldiers, intelligencers, individuals and athletes.

BROMYARD FOOTBALL CLUB

Bromyard F.C. came into being in August 2011 following a parting of the ways from Bromyard Town FC. A group of parents stepped up to the mark to create the new junior and youth club to ensure all the teams we had established over the preceding years could keep on playing.

We had to move away from our location in Bromyard, but we set up a new home of football at the nearby village of Bishops Frome. With the help from players families and friend plus all the support from local trades and businesses the club has gone from strength to strength. Since 2011 we have provided over 500 children, youths and adults an opportunity to play football. We have had teams ranging from under 7’s all the way through to veterans. Our next challenge is to establish a series of girls and ladies’ teams and to improve our facilities in the process. It is definitely exciting times ahead for the club and we are looking forward to the next 10 years.

THE STORY MUSEUM, OXFORD

The Story Museum is a most unusual museum located in the heart of Oxford celebrating the power of stories to teach and delight.

Visitors will encounter gallery and activity spaces which encourage adults and children alike to lose themselves in their imagination. Highlights include the Whispering Wood – a mysterious forest resounding with oral stories from around the globe – and Small Worlds – a patchwork play space featuring well-loved picture book characters. Malorie Blackman and Philip Pullman, who are patrons of the museum, will have their work featured in the Enchanted Library, an immersive gallery that invites visitors to step inside scenes from eight selected children’s stories. The magic of live storytelling will be celebrated in the museum’s 100+ seat theatre, hosting small-scale shops as well as puppetry, author and illustrator talks and film screenings.

“Through our imaginative exhibitions and exciting programme of performances, events, workshops, clubs and skills-building courses, we engage people of all ages in great stories. Our activities are interactive, multi-sensory and designed to encourage parents, carers and children to spend time together enjoying stories in many different ways.”
